How do I test for mouse double-clicking?

What causes double-clicking?

It's usually a worn or dirty mechanical switch that bounces, sending two signals from one press. Dust, wear, and age all contribute.

How many clicks should I do?: At least 15–20 normal single clicks. A healthy mouse shows zero faults; even an occasional one is worth watching.

Why a time threshold?: Humans can't intentionally click the same button twice faster than ~50ms, so anything quicker is almost certainly the switch bouncing.
