How do I test my mouse DPI?

Enter the real-world distance you will move, hold the mouse button and glide the mouse that exact distance across your pad, then release. The tool counts the pixels travelled and divides by the distance to calculate your true DPI.

Why is my measured DPI different from the stated DPI?

Small differences are normal due to sensor tolerance, surface, and measurement error. Large gaps can mean Windows pointer scaling is active, the DPI is set differently in software, or the sensor is miscalibrated.

Is this DPI test accurate?

It is a strong relative indicator. For best accuracy, use a ruler, move slowly in a straight line over a long distance, and disable mouse acceleration first.

How to Get an Accurate Reading

Put a ruler on your mousepad and pick a clear start and end point.
Set the distance and unit above to match.
Press Start, then press and hold the left button at your start point.
Glide the mouse smoothly and slowly to the end point in a straight line, then release.

Tip: turn off "Enhance pointer precision" (mouse acceleration) in Windows first, or your reading will drift.
