What is mouse polling rate?

Polling rate is how often your mouse reports its position to the computer, measured in Hertz. 1000Hz means 1000 updates per second, or one every millisecond.

How is polling rate measured in the browser?

We timestamp each mouse-move event with the high-resolution performance clock and convert the time between reports into a frequency. Moving the mouse quickly gives the cleanest reading.

Is higher polling rate always better?

Higher rates lower input timing but use more CPU. 1000Hz is the sweet spot for most gamers; 125Hz is fine for everyday use.

Browsers can coalesce events, so very high rates (4000Hz+) may read lower here than your hardware's true ceiling. Move fast and steady for the best estimate.
